Line Clear Nasi Kandar @ Penang

Nasi Kandar, one of the most famous food in Malaysia. However, it seems that not many people know that Nasi Kandar originates from Penang, and Penang served some of the best, if not the best Nasi Kandar in Malaysia. This is the fact that many of my friends that came from other places of Malaysia, when they come to Penang, and wanted to bring them eat Nasi Kandar, they will give me this shocking or confuse look of “What? come to Penang ask me eat Nasi Kandar???? I want Char koay teow, Curry Mee, Prawn Mee, Laksa!”

Anyway, if talk about famous Nasi Kandar stall in Penang, Nasi Kandar Line Clear definitely come into most Penangtie mind.No! It’s not Nasmir or Kayu. I wouldn’t say those are very bad, but if compare of purity and awesomeness, they are no way close to Line Clear.

Man, just look at the queue! The queue almost reach the main road already.

And yes, Nasi Kandar Line Clear is located at an alley (or lorong kia), so if hygiene of an eating place is a huge problem for you, then this is not your place. To me, as long as the food served is nice, I won’t care for the environment, heck I won’t purposely go and see how dirty it is, or else I just won’t be able to enjoy my food already.

However, the choice of dish available here may be lesser than some other Nasi Kandar, but when it came to food, it’s all about quality, not quantity.

32 at the Mansion @ Penang

Thanks to Nicole, I know about this place. Penang is not like KL, where you can find fine dining place easily. From her blog, the place is lovely as it was in a historic building, and with big parking space! Besides, it’s located just beside the sea too. So when Christmas came, I called up and make a reservation for Christmas eve.

Pomander Restaurant Pork Mee @ SS15 Subang Jaya

Well, I had heard of this famous pork me for like 3 years already, but I always don’t have the chance to eat try it. When I first heard of it, due to no own transport. When I have own transport, and went to hunt for it, only to notice that the original shop already closed down liao, and heard that it had moved to elsewhere but I just don’t know where it is. When finally I know the exact location of the new place, I am already staying at Rawang, which makes it even impossible to go to Subang Jaya early in the morning and eat it. Well, I know, all is just excuse ๐Ÿ˜€

Brother Yat Restaurant @ Subang Jaya

Ever since I saw Vkeong review about Brother Yat, I always wanted to try it! Simply because of its sauna live prawns!

Live? Sauna? What the heck? Read on ๐Ÿ˜€

Brother Yat Restaurant is located at Subang Jaya, behind Mydin and Giant there. Although that area is an industry area, but it seems that there are a few restaurant that serves really nice food. I had eaten once there before when I am still working at Selangor last year, and its good (although I had forgotten the name of the restaurant).

Anyway, back to Brother Yat. The fish tanks at the entrance seems is there for show only, as most of the tanks are empty, but I am not here for fish, so its OK for me ๐Ÿ˜€

Tarbush Restaurant @ Sunway Pyramid

I always like Middle Eastern food, and will go and have a try whenever I had a chance. However, many of my friends are not a fan of it, so although I saw Tarbush Restaurant at Sunway Pyramid for some time already, but only until recently I had chance to try it.

When we enter the restaurant, it’s basically empty inside. Not only that there are 0 customer inside, but I can’t see a single waiter inside too. However, we still head inside, only to notice that all the worker are actually having a meeting inside a room. This actually give me a bad impression on them, as although they saw us walking inside, non of them bother to stand up and greet us until I wave at them!

After we order our food, we were first served with the complementary nan and something to go with it. Nothing special though.

Ong Kee Bean Sprout Chicken (Nga Choi Gai) @ Ipoh

Bean Sprout Chicken, or better known as Nga Choi Gai in Cantonese is something that everyone will always link it with when someone mentioned Ipoh. It’s actually the same thing with Hainanese Steamed Chicken, just that at Ipoh, it was served with bean sprout, and people usually eat it with koay teow instead of rice.

There are actually 2 restaurant famous for selling Nga Choi Gai at Ipoh, which is Lou Wong and Ong Kee. Both are equally famous, and serve real good Nga Choi Gai. Besides, both restaurant are also located at the same road, just directly opposite each other. I really wonder what lead to both boss operating their business at the same place, snatching customer is fun eh?

I actually wanted to try Lou Wong this time around as for the past few times I always dine at Ong Kee. However, looking at the crowd at Lou Wong, I decided to skip it again as I can’t find an empty table there.

Ong Kee seems to have an advantage over here as they have 2 shops, and they are able to serve more customer. People like me who is OK with both shop will surely went to the one where I no need to stand and wait.

When I was eating there, the person who chopping the chicken is working non stop. I really wonder, how many chicken they sell each day.
