Line Clear Nasi Kandar @ Penang

Nasi Kandar, one of the most famous food in Malaysia. However, it seems that not many people know that Nasi Kandar originates from Penang, and Penang served some of the best, if not the best Nasi Kandar in Malaysia. This is the fact that many of my friends that came from other places of Malaysia, when they come to Penang, and wanted to bring them eat Nasi Kandar, they will give me this shocking or confuse look of “What? come to Penang ask me eat Nasi Kandar???? I want Char koay teow, Curry Mee, Prawn Mee, Laksa!”

Anyway, if talk about famous Nasi Kandar stall in Penang, Nasi Kandar Line Clear definitely come into most Penangtie mind. No! It’s not Nasmir or Kayu. I wouldn’t say those are very bad, but if compare of purity and awesomeness, they are no way close to Line Clear.

Man, just look at the queue! The queue almost reach the main road already.

And yes, Nasi Kandar Line Clear is located at an alley (or lorong kia), so if hygiene of an eating place is a huge problem for you, then this is not your place. To me, as long as the food served is nice, I won’t care for the environment, heck I won’t purposely go and see how dirty it is, or else I just won’t be able to enjoy my food already.

However, the choice of dish available here may be lesser than some other Nasi Kandar, but when it came to food, it’s all about quality, not quantity.

After queuing up for some time, finally I can eat! My choice is lamb rendang, curry fish, squid and squid egg. While I also ask the person to help me mix the curry for me. It’s actually a crucial part, as if the worker is experience, he will know which curry to mix with, and gave you a plate of awesome Nasi Kandar!

LY choice is nasi briyani, chicken, fried chicken neck and fried chicken intestine. The chicken is a bit too huge, and the meat is way too lean for almost everyone except body builders I guess. The nasi briyani however, is no way near the quality from Tarbush, but with all the curries with it, it still taste awesome.

And well, you can see that both of our portion is HUGE, and both of us say that, no way we gona finish the rice. But… the end, both of us finished it….. it’s just way tooooooooo awesome.

However, although Nasi Kandar is famous for pricey long long time ago, I am still shocked when I see the receipt. However, it’s still worth it to me, and if not because of health conscious, I don’t mind eating it every week. Just count the calorie amount in each plate above, it will scare the shit out of those who control their diet.

The place they cook.

After a huge plate of Nasi Kandar, a cup of coconut water will make me feel a lot better, and very syokz!

Line Clear Nasi Kandar is however, quite hidden from the main road since it’s located at an alley of Penang Road. Hence I take a picture of the left and right of where it’s located. My back is facing the stall when I am taking the picture below.

Besides, if you come at peak hour, and walk past Penang road, you will somewhat pass by a place where loads of people queuing up or standing around at 1 place. This is probably where Line Clear Nasi Kandar is located at.
