Farlim Shell Station Laksa @ Penang

Asam Laksa oh asam Laksa, I absolutely love asam Laksa especially those full with fish, well, since asam Laksa is all about fish ma. Whenever I got the laksa craving, I will definitely come to Farlim here for it’s laksa. They are really famous in the past, however, ever since they move to this new shop, their business seems to drop since every time I patronize them, only a few customer are in there.

Nevertheless, I still absolutely love the laksa here although they do hire Indonesian maid to cook the dish.

The coffee shop is very spacious and big, especially since most of the time it was empty. I always love to dine at a place where it’s always empty but still serve great food, simply because I can find parking easier, order my food faster, get to eat my food faster, and able to eat my food at my own pace since I don’t need to worry about eyes staring at you wishing you faster finish it so that they can have a place to sit. Besides, empty restaurant also won’t be so stuffy, but of course la, the food must be good!

And yes, the laksa here is plain awesome. 1 thing that makes this laksa special is they do give you the whole ikan kembong (Indian Mackerel), while at other place either it just pieces of fish, or it’s all shredded. They do take off the bones off the fish before it was served so you can just eat it easily. Ahh…amazing. Besides, fried fish ball is also something you can find, yummy! Oh, did I mentioned that the fish they used is ALWAYS fresh? Simply delicious! 8.8/10

Besides laksa, the fried spring roll here is good too, especially when you ate it when it was still hot. Dipping the spring roll into the laksa soup and let it suck all the soup into it, oh mai….orgasm! 8.3/10

The leng chee kang here seems to be quite famous, but I find that so so only. Ya la, quite a lot of ingredients la, but normal lo. 7.0/10

See the aluminum tray beside the shop? They usually put a whole bunch of fresh ikan kembong there, all waited to be used to cook and served.

The coffee shop is located under a multi story car park. Quite easy to find since the sign board is so red. Oh, if you are there, do try the roti bak gua, and maybe BBQ chicken backside if you are the adventurous type. And yes, chicken backside is well known as the smoothest part of the whole chicken!

  1. Yes. I love dipping fried popiah, or any other fried YTF into the laksa or curry soup.
Something to chew on while slurping the hot noodles, I reckon.
Though I am not a fan of laksa myself. 🙂
